# Connecting Bullhorn

Connecting Bullhorn lets you send a formatted CV onto a candidate record, and search, create and update candidates. Each consultant connects their own Bullhorn account. The integration is write-only for documents: it cannot pull an existing CV out of Bullhorn, so you upload the CV to RemakeCV yourself.

> **Warning:** 
The last row is the one that shapes your workflow. Bullhorn integration is write-back only — upload the candidate's CV to RemakeCV in the normal way, format it, then push the result onto the Bullhorn record.

## What you need first

- Bullhorn enabled for your company by RemakeCV — email support@remakecv.com
- A Bullhorn login for each consultant who will use it

## How to connect

### Start from RemakeCV

Open the user menu on your dashboard and choose Connect Bullhorn.

### Sign in to Bullhorn

You are sent to Bullhorn to sign in. Each consultant does this with their own account — there is no single company-wide authorisation.

### Confirm you are connected

You are returned to RemakeCV. Check the Bullhorn panel shows as connected before relying on it.

> **Note:** 
Because connections are per consultant, rolling Bullhorn out to a team means each person connecting once. Colleagues will not inherit your connection.

## The day-to-day workflow

### Upload the CV to RemakeCV

From your desktop, in the normal way. See [uploading a CV](https://www.remakecv.com/help/formatting-cvs/uploading-a-cv.md).

### Format and review

Choose a template, check the extraction, apply any AI tools.

### Find the candidate in Bullhorn

Search from within RemakeCV, or create the candidate if they are new.

### Push the formatted CV across

It is uploaded to the candidate record as `{First}_{Last}_CV.docx`.

## Troubleshooting

| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |

| "Bullhorn account is not connected" | Never connected, or tokens cleared | Connect from the user menu |
| "Failed to refresh Bullhorn token" | Refresh token expired or revoked | Reconnect |
| "Could not obtain Bullhorn session" | REST session could not be established | Reconnect |
| "Missing REST URL, please reconnect" | Session data incomplete | Reconnect |
| Works for you, not a colleague | Connections are per consultant | They connect their own account |
| Upload rejected by Bullhorn | Entitlements on the Bullhorn user account | Check permissions with your Bullhorn administrator |

> **Tip:** 
Uploaded files carry the logical type (`Resume` or `FormattedResume`) in the record's external identifier rather than the Bullhorn file-type field. If files appear under an unexpected type in Bullhorn, that is why — the document itself is correct.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can RemakeCV read a CV already attached in Bullhorn?

No. The Bullhorn integration writes documents to candidate records but cannot list or download existing attachments. Upload the CV to RemakeCV yourself, then push the formatted result back.

### Is the connection per user or per company?

Per consultant. Each person connects their own Bullhorn account, and each connection expires independently.

### Why did my Bullhorn session drop mid-session?

Bullhorn's REST session expires separately from the OAuth token. RemakeCV re-establishes it automatically once; if that fails you are asked to reconnect.
