The Mercury integration lets you search Mercury contacts, attach a formatted CV to an existing contact as a PDF, or create a new contact by sending Mercury a CV to parse. There is no connect flow — RemakeCV configures access on your behalf, so setup is a conversation with us.

> **Warning:**
There is no Connect Mercury button, no sign-in step and no authorisation to renew. Access is configured by RemakeCV. If Mercury actions are not visible on your dashboard, the integration has not been enabled for your account — email support@remakecv.com.

## What it can do

| Capability | Supported |
|---|---|
| Search Mercury contacts by name or email | Yes |
| Attach a formatted CV to an existing contact | Yes, as **PDF** |
| Create a new contact from a CV | Yes — Mercury parses the CV and builds the record |
| **Download an existing CV from Mercury** | **No** |

## The day-to-day workflow

### Upload and format the CV in RemakeCV

Mercury cannot supply the source CV, so start in RemakeCV as normal. See [uploading a CV](https://www.remakecv.com/help/formatting-cvs/uploading-a-cv.md).

### Search for the contact

Search Mercury by name or email from within RemakeCV.

### Attach, or create a new contact

Attach the formatted CV to the existing contact, or — if the candidate is new — send the CV to Mercury to parse into a fresh contact record.

## Two behaviours to expect

**The attachment is a PDF.** Every other RemakeCV integration writes a `.docx`; Mercury receives a PDF. If your team expects an editable file on the Mercury record, it will not be there — download the DOCX from RemakeCV separately. See [downloading as DOCX or PDF](https://www.remakecv.com/help/formatting-cvs/downloading-docx-pdf.md).

**Contact search can be slow on large databases.** Matching is done after retrieving contacts rather than by Mercury itself, so search time scales with the size of your contact database. A precise search term helps; a one-letter search does not.

## Troubleshooting

| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "Mercury credentials not configured" | The integration is not set up for your account — contact support |
| "Search term is required." | Enter a search term |
| "Failed to search for candidates." | Mercury search failed — retry, then contact support |
| "Failed to upload CV." | The attachment did not reach the contact record |
| "Failed to create contact from CV." | Mercury could not parse the CV into a new contact |

Because there is no token to refresh, "reconnect and try again" does not apply to Mercury. If it stops working, it is a configuration or service issue — email support@remakecv.com with the time and what you were doing.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I connect Mercury?

You don't. There is no connect button and no authorisation step. RemakeCV configures access for your account — email support@remakecv.com to have it set up.

### Is the CV attached as a Word document?

No. Mercury receives the formatted CV as a PDF, unlike the other integrations which send DOCX.

### Can it pull an existing CV out of Mercury?

No. You upload the CV to RemakeCV yourself, format it, then attach the result to the Mercury contact.
