CV history and re-downloading

Every processed CV is listed in your history with the candidate name, latest employer and role, so you can find and re-download it without spending another credit.

RemakeCV's CV history lists the CVs processed across your company — not just your own — with the candidate name, latest employer and role, who uploaded it and when. Reopening an entry to re-download or edit it costs no credit. History exists only where CV storage is enabled, and entries are deleted automatically after your retention window.

What is shown in history?

Each entry records:

ColumnDescription
Date processedWhen the CV was first run
Uploaded byWhich consultant processed it
TypeNew, or a reprocess of an existing CV
MethodText or Image, depending on whether OCR was needed
Candidate nameExtracted from the CV
Latest companyThe candidate's most recent employer
Latest roleThe candidate's most recent job title
Last updatedWhen it was last edited
Warning:

History is scoped to your company, not to you. Consultants can see and filter CVs processed by colleagues, including who uploaded each one. If that does not suit your confidentiality requirements, tell us at support@remakecv.com.

Those first three fields exist precisely because "Smith_CV_final_v2.pdf" is useless six weeks later. Searching by employer or role is how consultants actually find a candidate again.

What can I do with a past CV?

  • Re-download it in DOCX or PDF.
  • Regenerate it into a different template.
  • Edit it further and download the updated version.
  • Anonymise it for a blind submission to a different client.

None of these consume a credit. The credit was spent when the CV was first processed.

Note:

Regenerating an old CV into a new template is the fastest way to migrate a back catalogue after a rebrand — no re-uploading, no credits.

How long does history last?

Two limits apply:

  • CV storage can be off entirely. Some agencies turn it off so no candidate document is retained after processing. There is then no history at all — download the CV before you close the session.
  • Stored CVs expire. Where storage is on, entries are deleted automatically after your company's retention window, which defaults to 30 days.
Warning:

Reprocessing a CV replaces the stored original file. The previous version is not kept.

See GDPR and data retention.

Can I get history programmatically?

Yes:

Frequently asked questions

How long are CVs kept?
Stored CVs are deleted automatically after a per-company retention window, which defaults to 30 days. Anything you need to keep should be downloaded or filed in your ATS.
Can I see CVs processed by colleagues?
Yes. History is company-scoped and shows who uploaded each CV, so consultants can see each other's work.
Can I access my history through the API?
Yes. GET /cvs lists stored CVs with pagination and date filters. See list stored CVs.
