What problem does RemakeCV solve?
Recruitment consultants spend a large share of every week retyping candidate CVs into an agency template. The source documents arrive in every conceivable layout — two-column designs, scanned PDFs, CVs written in the first person, CVs with the employment history in reverse order.
RemakeCV automates that step. It reads the source document, works out which text is a job title, which is an employer, which is a date range and which is a bullet point, then rebuilds the whole document inside your template.

How is it different from a CV template?
A template is a blank document you still have to fill in. RemakeCV does the filling in.
The difference matters most on messy inputs. A scanned PDF has no machine-readable structure at all — RemakeCV runs OCR over it, then reconstructs the sections. A two-column CV has text that reads in the wrong order when copied and pasted — RemakeCV works out the intended reading order before rebuilding the document.

What does RemakeCV not do?
Being precise about the boundaries saves time:
- It does not source candidates. RemakeCV formats CVs you already have.
- It does not invent content. If a date or an employer is missing from the source CV, it will be missing from the output. You can add it manually in the editor.
- It is not a full ATS. It integrates with your ATS rather than replacing it.
- It is not a candidate archive. CV storage is a per-company setting, and stored CVs are deleted automatically after a retention window that defaults to 30 days. See GDPR and data retention.

- Does RemakeCV write the CV for the candidate?
- No. RemakeCV reformats and restructures the CV the candidate already wrote. It can generate a summary and neutralise first-person language, but it does not invent experience that is not in the source document.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. RemakeCV runs in the browser. There is also a public REST API if you want to build it into your own tooling.
